Orion Group to retain commissions for agencies
Orion Hotels & Resorts CEO Franz Gmeiner has confirmed that
the hotel group will retain agency commissions. This decision followed
a meeting that took place during December last year where several
hotel groups and retail consortium heads took the decision to scrap
hotel commissions from March 1 2006. At the time FEDHASA Chairman,
Brett Dungan, said that it was up to each hotel or hotel group to
decide if they were going to carry on with commissions or take the
option of using a net rate system.
"Orion has always had a very close working relationship with
the travel trade and professional conference co-ordinators,"
said Grant Sandham, Orion Hotels & Resorts Marketing Manager.
"This relationship has been developed over a long period of
time and the successes that we enjoy are as a direct result of this
association. It seems only fair to do everything that we can to enhance
the relationship and reward the industry for work done on our behalf."
